Krzysztof Zamorski Professor dr hab. at the Institute of History of the Jagiellonian University; head of the Department of History of Historiography and Methodology of History. Since 1997 he is coeditor together with Prof. dr hab. Maciej Salomon, of the journal "Historyka. Methodological studies in History ". “Historyka” is one of the most respected Polish journal on history, especially in the matter of the theory of history.
Professor Zamorski specializes in theory of history where he focuses particularly on ontology of history. He deals also with historical demography, as well as social and economic history from the 18th to 20 the 20th century Poland. Among his books the most important are: “Dziwna rzeczywistość: wprowadzenie do ontologii historii”, 2008 (Strange reality: introduction to history ontology (2008); “Transformacja demograficzna w Galicji na tle przemian ludnościowych Europy środkowej w drugiej połowie XIX i na początku XX wieku (1991)”; (Demographic Tranistion in Galicia on the the background of population changes in Central Europe in the second half of the 19th and beginning of the 20th century (1991); co-edited with Marta Kurkowska Budzan, “Oral History. Challenges of Dialogue” (Amsterdam-Philadelphia, 2009). He is also the author of approx. 140 articles. In the years 1993-2003 he was the director of the Jagiellonian Library. He is member of the board of Polish Historical Society. Currently (from 2013) he is the president of the Krakow Branch of the Polish Historical Society. He is decorated of the Polish “Gold Cross of Merit” as well awarded of the French Order of “Palmes Académiques”.
